Embarrassing:
Walking into a patient's home with everything you need to solve a diabetic crisis only to find you haven't brought a band-aid for his finger.
Unprepared:
Being asked to take a pulse only to answer your captain with "Errm... might I use your watch?"
Learning:
Two mistakes I won't make again, at least.

Second opinions
Patient confidentiality is very important to me. In sharing my experiences, my intention is to tell the story of my encounters and not to reveal information that my patients would prefer to keep private. Therefore, I've intentionally kept many details vague, not used names, and changed the genders of some of the patients in these entries. If you feel that any of these posts allow for an identification of a specific patient or if you believe that any of the stories posted here violate patient confidentiality, please let me know and I'll immediately remove the offending post.
